Some Places to Visit (Gay Places) — 2016년 January 21일

Some Places to Visit (Gay Places)

Before beginning, I will not post other “massage services” because I don’t need to inform similar services as mine. Sorry for that. Maybe you can check on line.

  1. Jong-ro district

Jongro is oldest gay district and Korean gay guys begin their hangout here. In Friday night, They eat dinner here and drink (or pre-drink) in Jongro district and after that, they go to Itaewon for clubbing. There are many “blind dates” in some gay exclusive pub in Jongro district. Some people gather about 20~30 gay guys(they doesn’t know each other) and they drink beer / soju and talk. If you have some Korean friends, taking part in with him will be nice. But if you are alone or foreign only friends, it’s not easy to take part in.

In Jongro3ga subway station, from gate3 to gate4, at night, there’s many “Pojangmacha”s(kinda food truck with tables) in a row both side of the street. Foods are good, not expensive. (maybe KRW15000~20000 per person will be enough. they have english menu.)Beside of tents, there are also many gay pubs. You can notice because there are many guys in there.

Of course these places are not gay exclusive but guys here are all gay. It is super cruisy place here, so if you find some guy near your table and make some eye contact and smile, You can talk to him or get the number.

You guys should know that Koreans don’t have culture to meet stranger in bar one to one. Guys here all are with their friends so you would better visit here with your friends. If you are alone, I recommend meet someone first through apps and tell him you want to visit some places. Having korean friends make everything easier.

(+) I know many foreigners stay in Dongdaemun(東大門) District. From Jongro to DDM is not far. Just 5 mins by taxi. BUT Jongro is the most difficult area to take a taxi in Korea and the drivers don’t want to take passenger to DDM. It is not because you are foreigner. Koreans do. If you finish drinking after 12:30 a.m., Walking is okay. From Jongro3ga gate 11, go straight about 20mins, You can reach DDM.

2. Itaewon.

Some tips about where to stay in Korea — 2016년 January 16일

Some tips about where to stay in Korea

  1. Locationseoul-subway-map

In Seoul, those four places are the most popular. I recommend to stay near subway station because it is easier than staying not near subway station and use buses.

In Line number 2, Hongdae(Hongik Univ) is nice place to stay. Many places to see because its near the famous university for fashion design, and not far (just 15minutes by subway) from city center. At night, You can hangout near your place.

Dongdaemun stadium(Line 2,4,5) is also nice for its transfortation.

Myungdong(Line 4) is good, but its city center itself, so at night, it could be quiet. If you want some night hangout, it’s not the best choise.

Gangnam~Samsung(Line 2) is a kind of new town. It takes about 20~40 mins to city center. If you are not a business trip traveler, staying in Gangnam place is not the best.

Shindorim(Line 2) is nice. It is not the very location, but not that far and nice to approach many places.

Itaewon~Noksapyung (Line 6) is nice gay and foreigner place, but I have to say that it is not super good to stay. In daytime, you should transfer at least 2 times to go to somewhere.

2. Hotels or Guest Houses

I visited some places since I begin this service, I have some informations about hotels and guesthouses.

Let’s begin with here. MY STANDARD 3 Star clean and nice hotel in city center -one night price is KRW 70000. It could be small, but provide 4 Hotel-ish services(own rest room, Room make up, breakfast, etc).

Some people want to stay in old Korean style guesthouse in city old town and I know they charges more than KRW 70000 per night. They says its like hotel, but it’s not. No sound proof and supersmall(because of its characteristics about old korean builing style). Sometimes they check that you bring someone to your room even you stay in double room. Experience-one-day-stay is okay.

Here’s my recommendations on each price level.

KRW70000~ :Hotel 8 hours in Myung dong (☆)
Doulos Hotel in Jongro

KRW100000~ :Grand Embassador Seoul in city center

KRW140000~ :Novotel Gangnam, Lotte city hotel in Myungdong(☆)

KRW200000~ :Sheraton Dcube in Shindorim

Actually, we have some motels everywhere in Seoul, and its price is ₩50000-ish per a day. Some brand new motel is better than 3.5 star hotels. BUT we Koreans use it for short time (for sex) so those motels don’t want to take long stay guests.

In Jongro~Insadong district, you can see many normal motels. If it is not the peak season, you can get some nice big and clean motel for some days in a row, but I’m sure that it is not so easy for foreigners. (They cannot speak English at all sometimes)

If you want more recommendations, I’m happy to talk about.
